Start Here, Go Anywhere!

Columbia State Community College offers a strong foundation for students planning to transfer to a four-year institution. Students can complete freshman- and sophomore-level courses to earn an Associate’s degree, then transfer those credits to a university to complete their junior and senior years and earn a Bachelor’s degree.

Plan Your Transfer Path
Students should follow the transfer guide or articulation agreement specific to their major and the institution where they plan to continue their studies. These guides help ensure that courses completed at Columbia State fulfill the requirements of the transfer institution and program. Because articulation agreements vary by institution and program, students are encouraged to review the program requirements in the transfer institution’s catalog and consult their academic advisor for personalized guidance.

Not sure how to begin exploring universities? Tips to get started:
  • Make a list of universities you’re interested in exploring.
  • Write down questions and topics you want to know about each university.
  • Review the university’s admissions website for transfer requirements and deadlines.
  • Contact a transfer admissions counselor — they can provide application information, event details, and general transfer guidance.
Tip: Let them know you’re attending Columbia State and plan to transfer after earning your Associate’s degree.

Transfer Information

  • Columbia State has many degrees that are a part of the Tennessee Transfer Pathways. Pursuing a college degree is valuable, and so is your time and money. With these pathways, you can begin your studies at a community college or similar two-year program, earn an associate degree, and confidently transfer your credits to a bachelor’s program at any public university or many private universities in Tennessee.

  • Articulation means that Columbia State established a formal agreement with a four-year college or university for specific programs offered at Columbia State. These agreements ensure that courses completed at Columbia State meet the requirements of the receiving institution. Students who follow an articulated program are accepted as having completed the first two years of a four-year degree.

  • Transfer Course Equivalencies Guides shows how courses transfer from Columbia State to another university.

Reverse Transfer

Tennessee Reverse Transfer allows transfer students who are currently attending a four-year school to combine four-year college credits with community college credits to receive an associate degree. This joint project is possible through the Tennessee Board of Regents, the University of Tennessee System, Tennessee Independent Colleges and Universities Association and Tennessee Higher Education Commission.
