Columbia State Now Offering Community Enrichment Courses

(FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Feb. 8, 2017) - - - Columbia State Community College will begin offering community enrichment courses on the Williamson Campus starting March 16 with a series focused on nutrition science. Also, available for registration is a list of online courses providing a wide range of topics.

"Nutrition for All Life Stages" participants will explore how best to meet the dietary needs of the whole family. Topics will include foods and chemicals to avoid, grocery shopping guidelines, understanding nutrition labels, the science behind organics, what to cook for your family and strategies for overall wellness.

Columbia State's community enrichment program is designed to offer affordable, personal development and lifestyle courses to the public focused on topics such as nutrition, music as a business, parenting your parents, using your smart phone, social media, creative arts, cooking, meditation and exercise and more. Courses will be taught by experts within the community and online.

"We want Columbia State to be the hub for community learning," said L.K. Browning, Columbia State director of economic and workforce development. "We're pairing people with unique skills and knowledge with those who want to explore new things.

"We want Columbia State to become a household name when community members want to learn for the pure joy of learning," said Michele Wilkinson, Columbia State continuing education associate and Pryor Art Gallery curator. "We hope that the community takes advantage of all this program has to offer."

The nutrition course will meet on the Williamson Campus located at 1228 Liberty Pike.
