Orientation
Our Orientation program is designed for new degree seeking, certificate, and dual enrollment students. It provides information to support a successful transition to college.
All first-time freshman and transfer students with less than 24 earned credit hours are required to complete orientation. Students may complete orientation online or in person.
- Only fully admitted students can login to online orientation. Completion of online orientation PRIOR to being fully admitted may cause a delay in hold removal. Having PVT credentials does not mean you are fully admitted.
- Additionally, advising and registration for new students is now completed via individual appointments (via Navigate ) with College Success Advisors. Once you complete online orientation, your Orientation Hold on your student account will be removed.
- If you are a first-time freshman or have less than 24 credit hours and are registration ready, you need to make a first-time advising appointment in Navigate with either your assigned College Success Advisor or Faculty Advisor (for certificate and health science programs). This means having a completed admissions file and completed online orientation (your only hold for registration should be for advising at this point). Your College Advisor will appear in Navigate under My Success Team. If you do not see an assigned College Success Advisor, please email ChargerCenter@ColumbiaState.edu. For more detailed information about advising visit Advising Services.
- If you have more than 24 or more credit hours, you may view and complete online orientation, but are not required. 24+ credit hours students are assigned a faculty advisor. If you do NOT see a faculty advisor listed in Navigate under My Success Team, please contact the academic division of your major: Health Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, or Science, Technology, and Mathematics
ONLY ADMITTED STUDENTS CAN ACCESS AND COMPLETE ORIENTATION. STUDENTS WHO CREATE A GUEST ACCOUNT WILL NOT RECEIVE CREDIT FOR ORIENTATION.
