Columbia State Williamson Campus Announces Availability During "Move Week" Transition

(FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Apr. 28, 2016) - - - Columbia State Community College's Williamson Campus will begin to transition from the current location to its newly constructed campus on Liberty Pike in Franklin beginning May 9.

"Move Week" will take place after spring commencement and will allow faculty and staff to prepare for the summer semester at the new campus. "Move Week" will run from May 9 until May 13.

Beginning May 9, current and prospective students who need assistance can call 615.790.4400 or visit the Enrollment Services department located on the first floor of the Administration and Student Services Building at the new Williamson Campus.

"It was never an option to completely shut down college operations, therefore, we created a plan to provide as seamless a transition as possible," said Dr. Shanna Jackson, associate vice president of the Williamson Campus. "We have a very small window to make the transition during a very active time for the college. Columbia State is in the midst of ending our spring semester and graduation activities. We are am asking for patience from our students and community members as we make this exciting transition to the new campus."

The new, high-efficiency green campus will feature state-of-the-art science laboratories, nursing simulation labs, information technology center, professional sound stage and editing studio, as well as a performing arts training facility with professional recording studio and songwriting lab. Along with ample parking, the facility will house four electric vehicle charging stations and access to the Franklin Transit trolley system.

Columbia State's summer semester begins May 31. New students must complete and submit an application by the May 16 deadline. Returning students who have missed one or more semesters must reapply for admission by May 23.

The community is invited to join Columbia State for a Grand Opening Celebration, which is scheduled for June 22 at 10:30 a.m. The celebration will include the opportunity to tour the new campus.

The opening completes Phase One of the new Williamson Campus, which can accommodate up to 2,200 students. Fully built, the Williamson Campus could serve as many as 6,000 students.
