Lady Chargers Team Up For A Cure

(COLUMBIA, Tenn. - Sept. 26, 2014) - - -
The Columbia State Community College Lady Chargers will host the Calhoun Community College Lady Warhawks in a "Pinkout" scrimmage to help raise awareness and honor those who have battled breast cancer.

"We want to show our support to survivors and help raise awareness of this disease that affects millions of women," said Johnny Littrell, Columbia State head softball coach. "If we can help educate the community, then maybe we can help save lives."

The "Strike Out Breast Cancer" event will take place on the Eddie Campbell Softball Field Oct. 18. Gates will open at 11 a.m., and the first pitch will be thrown at 1 p.m.

Breast cancer survivors and their friends and family of all ages, as well as the community, are invited to come out for a day of fun at the ballpark. Survivors will be recognized during the scrimmage.

There will be a "Pretty in Pink" contest where the person with the coolest, craziest, most creative pink outfit will win a prize. In addition to a breast cancer information booth, there will be a dunking booth, silent auction, bake sale, face painting and much more. All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society for breast cancer research.
