"Our students call themselves the 'Respiratory Care Crew,' and it was their idea to host this event in partnership with Maury County Parks and Recreation," said David Johnson, Respiratory Care Program Director at Columbia State. "The funds raised will help the students attend the state Respiratory Care Convention in Nashville. The students could have chosen other ways to raise money, but this event will help folks get up off the couch on a Saturday morning and do something to benefit the health of their lungs."

Parties interested in pre-registering for the "Lungs of Steel" 5K run/walk or kids one mile fun walk, or sponsoring the event, should call John Fischer (931-215-6927) or John-Michael Adgent (931-637-4920). Those who sign up prior to the pre-registration deadline of February 25 will only pay $15 for the 5K run/walk and $5 for the kids one mile fun walk. Race day registrants will be accepted, but will be charged $20 for the 5K run/walk and $10 for the kids one mile fun walk.
