KUYKENDALL RECOGNIZED FOR SERVICE TO COLUMBIA STATE

(COLUMBIA, Tenn., March 20, 2012) - - - Recognizing 10 years of "Outstanding Service" as the Curator of the Pryor Art Gallery of Columbia State Community College, the Board of Trustees presented Lucy Scott Kuykendall with a framed resolution during a reception in her honor on March 14.

Kuykendall, who is retiring effective March 31, has been credited with growing and diversifying the private art collection of Columbia State for the benefit of its students and the community at large.

"Lucy has devoted her time and financial resources to furthering an understanding and appreciation for the visual arts," said Dr. Ken Moore, Foundation Board Chairman. Reading from the Foundation's Resolution, Dr. Moore continued, "Lucy has been personally responsible for enhancing the student learning environment of the Columbia State Community College campus through the cultivation of relationships with local, state and nationally recognized artists through the exhibiting of their work in the Pryor Art Gallery."

Kuykendall, a Maury County native and wife of Dr. Sam Kuykendall, said she is retiring in order to spend more time with her family, including her parents, Dr. and Mrs. William Fuqua.

The Pryor Art Gallery is located in the Waymon L. Hickman building on Columbia State's main campus. The gallery is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The gallery is also open on weekends during special events.
