(Columbia, TN --- June 15, 2011) - - - Columbia State's Center for Economic and Workforce Development is offering several non-credit courses during the month of July covering a variety of topics.

Introduction to Word 2010 teaches the student to add, move through and edit text, move words from one part of your document to another, work on two or more documents simultaneously, change the size or appearance of text, change margins and tab settings, run grammar and spelling checker, use the thesaurus and save and retrieve, copy, organize and print documents. This class will be held on the Columbia campus on Friday, July 8 from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. The fee of $129 includes text.

Paralegal Career Advancement Certificate trains the students to interview witnesses, investigate complex fact patterns, research the law, prepare legal documents, and assist in preparing cases for courtroom litigation. Topics include legal terminology, introduction to the evidentiary predicate, identifying relevant authority, legal research, and legal writing and appellate procedure. The instruction is practice oriented and relates to those areas of law in which paralegals are most in demand. This course will be held on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. for six weekends beginning July 9 through August 14. The fee of $1,189 does not include text. (Text approximately $340).

Introduction to QuickBooks 2010 covers banking and billing activities, working with reports and budgets, and protecting and backing up data. This class will be held on the Columbia campus on Friday, July 15 from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. The fee of $129 includes text.

Introduction to Excel 2007 teaches the student how to get started with Excel 2007 and work with formulas and functions. The class will be held on the Columbia campus on Friday, July 22 from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. The fee of $129 includes text.

Introduction to Excel 2010 teaches the student to sort and analyze data, design custom charts and graphs, format worksheets using mathematical formulas. Get started with Excel 2010 by attending this class. The course will be held on Friday, July 29 from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. The fee of $129 includes text.

Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (Gatlin Ed Program) SQL Server 2005 (MCTS) GES 816 ยป 480 hours: As a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist, you'll have the knowledge to implement and maintain databases using specific instructions and specifications. The student will be able to install and configure the SQL Server 2005 and transfer data into it and out of it. The program will prepare you for four Microsoft exams. The training and certification will help you pursue a career as a database administrator, database developer, or business intelligence developer. The online class will begin on Wednesday, July 6.
