COLUMBIA STATE WELCOMES FRENCH POP SINGER CHLOE CLERC

Performance Free and Open to the Public Wednesday, Nov. 2

(COLUMBIA, Tenn. - Oct. 27, 2011) - - -
Columbia State Community College's Lyceum Committee welcomes Chloé Clerc on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 11 a.m. in the Cherry Theater located in the Waymon L. Hickman building on the Columbia campus. The French pop-singer recently performed in Switzerland and India and is currently on tour in the U.S. The performance is free and open to the public.

Clerc uses her own experiences as inspiration for her music, as well as a mixture of characters from everyday life. Her positive, high-energy performance combines imaginative lyrics with the art of the traditional French song, creating an intimate yet bold pop style.

Native to the Flanders area of France, Clerc had her first singing lesson at the age of five but the motivation to become a musician came when she stumbled upon a traditional Irish folk concert at a pub during a trip to the Emerald Isle. Shortly thereafter Clerc founded her own production company, Chloé-Music.

In 2005, Clerc finished her degree in communications and produced her first album, La Vie en Ose. After being chosen as a finalist in a competition for young musical talents at the Paris Olympia in 2006, she participated in a summer tour for Radio France-Bleue Nord. During this time, she also appeared in the French television program 100% Music.

Since launching her career, Clerc has collaborated with Christian Vié on the show Les Petits Miroirs, worked with a multitude of music professionals and produced two albums. Her second album, A Part Ca?, was released in 2010.
