AWARD-WINNING HOLLYWOOD SCREENWRITER GEORGE YANOK RETURNS TO COLUMBIA STATE

Free Information Session March 13

(COLUMBIA, Tenn. - March 7, 2012) - - - If you've ever sat in a movie theater or watched TV in your living room, you may have asked yourself, "Who writes this stuff?". The answer is very hard-working, highly paid people. If you're wondering how you can become one of them, it's not impossible.
Award-winning Hollywood Screenwriter George Yanok returns to Columbia State Community College to provide a free information session about writing for movies and television. The free information session will take place on the Columbia campus on Tuesday, March 13 from 6-7 p.m. to allow you to find out more about this class.
The class, "Writing for Movies and Television," provides a unique opportunity to develop a screenplay based on your original idea, guided and mentored by an instructor with extensive professional credits. It may prove to be a first step in the path to a new career. At the very least, students will gain insight into a fascinating, creative discipline and cultivate a critical, artistic sense that will take them beyond being just an audience member.
The field of writing movies and television shows is tough to crack, highly competitive and very demanding. Often, screenwriters have spent a good part of their lives doing something else before discovering their calling. For every screenwriter who started out to be one, at least as many once led careers in business, education, medicine, law, the military or the ministry. What sets writers apart? They have a story they're dying to tell, and chances are you do too.
While there is no cost to attend, please call (931) 540-2660 to reserve a seat.
