(COLUMBIA, Tenn. – Jan. 27, 2014) - - - More than 70 students were named to the president’s list, and more than 400 students were named to the dean’s list for earning academic honors this fall at Columbia State Community College.
“Earning a place on the president’s list is a significant achievement,” said Dr. Janet F. Smith, Columbia State president. “In addition to carrying a full class schedule, many of them have jobs, families and extracurricular activities to manage. These students are to be commended for their hard work and dedication.”
“Students who earn dean’s list status have shown a high level of commitment to their education,” said Dr. Margaret D. Smith, the executive vice president and provost for academic affairs and student programs and services. “Achieving this level of academic performance shows their commitment and dedication, and I have no doubts they will be successful in future endeavors as they move forward in their education and their careers.”
To qualify for the president’s list, students must earn 15 credit hours for the semester with a grade point average of 3.90 – 4.00.
To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn 12 or more credit hours for the semester with a GPA of 3.50 or higher.
