Employers spend just a few seconds looking over an individual resume. Do you know what to include in your resume to encourage employers to take a longer look?

What Doesn't Belong Anywhere on Your Resume

Do NOT include the following on your resume:
  • Age, Race, Nationality, Gender
  • Marital status
  • Religious affiliation
  • Political affiliation
  • Social Security number
  • Salary history or requirements
  • Information about children or spouse
  • The phrase: "References available upon request"
  • Your photograph
  • Reasons why you left your last job
  • Reasons why you want this job
  • Long sentences separated by semicolons
  • A repeat of your entire heading on page two (just include your name, email address, and the page number)
