Here are some tips to finding the right major for you.

  • Selecting a major based on what other well-meaning people desire for you is not always a good idea.
  • Do not randomly declare a major.
  • Research majors by reliable labor market web sources.
  • Speak with someone who actually works in the field(s) of interest.
  • Talk to other students already in desired program to obtain perspective of their coursework they are already studying within the major(s) you are considering.

  • Talk to instructors, deans, division personnel in the division that offers the major(s) you are considering.

  • Consider academic subjects which interests you and where you have a history of achievement.
  • Speak with your assigned faculty advisor and other professional advisors in your area(s) of interest.
