General Tutoring Appointment Policy
- Tutoring is by appointment ONLY.
- Individual appointments are 30 minutes.
- Some group tutoring may be offered, depending on need.
- Appointments are first come-first serve.
- Appointments can be made from week to week but no more than one week in advance.
- Being 10 minutes or more late for an appointment, automatically cancels that appointment.
- If an appointment is made and later needs to be cancelled, please email us or call one of the contact numbers below. Please give as much notice as possible so that other students can be scheduled during those times.
- Students who miss three (3) appointments during a semester without contact of cancellation, will not be allowed to schedule any further appointments during the semester. Students can check for tutoring openings by walk-in availability only for that day.
- Students who consistently miss appointments without notification, will lose their tutoring privileges completely for the semester.
- The Teaching and Learning Center has limited tutoring times and subject availability; our goal is to try to help as many students as possible.
- For all Franklin tutoring appointments call 615-790-5671.
- For Columbia and all other extended campuses call 931-540-1302
- You can also request appointments for any campus by emailing us at tutoring@columbiastate.edu.
MATH tutoring appointment policy: Because of the large number of students needing math tutoring, a student is only allowed to schedule two 30-minute appointments per week. Additional appointments will be walk-in availability only.
SCIENCE tutoring policy: One hour appointments may be scheduled but only for a group of students. A group of 2-5 students may be given an hour for tutoring. A group of 6-8 students may be given an hour and a half for tutoring. Otherwise, individual students have a 30 minute appointment.
WRITING tutoring policy: Writing tutors do not EDIT papers. Students must make an appointment and are expected to participate in the tutoring session.
Writing Referral Form for faculty and staff when referring students for tutoring in writing/reading.
