Kristyn Omelenik

"I got the tassel in 2010!" says Commercial Entertainment graduate Kristyn Marie Omelenik.

Looking back, I couldn't have made a better choice in choosing Columbia State Community College. I loved to sing, but I'd never even heard of the Commercial Entertainment program they had to offer, until my voice teacher who had gone to college there himself told me about it and how amazing it was. Once I saw it for myself, I knew that there was no other place for me...and I was right. The teachers are the best in existence. You won't find any better, anywhere. The opportunities to learn, and improve yourself are always available, and the information and training are invaluable. The last musical production done was Cats, in which I had the privilege and honor to portray Grizabella. It was an enriching experience, and while it was the hardest thing I've ever had to do and work for, it was also the most rewarding.

I can honestly say that this program has changed my life in every possible way. It's taught me how to be driven, focused, professional, how to make the words I sing real for myself first, so that I can reach others with them, and how to live my life a way that creates the ultimate fulfillment from within. I hope to become a professional singer, whether it's singing on a cruise ship, or becoming a recording artist, I'll be happy doing what I love. I am blessed.
