What if I miss class due to illness?
A: Please see the college catalog for the policy on class attendance.

Is health insurance available?
A: Yes, student health insurance is available through an independent company. Students interested in receiving information should contact the Office of Health Services on the Columbia campus or any other location.

Q:
Can I be contacted in case of an emergency?
A: All emergency messages should be directed to the Office of Student Services at 931-540-2570 or the Director of the center or site where the student is in class.

Q:
Does Columbia State have dormitories or other housing?
A: No, but the Office of Student Services maintains a housing referral list for the Columbia area.

Q:
Is a student identification card necessary?
A: Yes, all students taking credit courses must obtain a student identification card. Identification cars are available at the Office of Student Services on the Columbia campus (JSC 115) or any other location.

Q:
What if I lose something on campus?
A: All lost items are returned to the Office of Student Services or the main office at other locations. All items are held for three months.

Q:
Do I need a parking decal?
A: Yes, all vehicles driven on campus must be registered in the Office of Student Services.

Q:
Does the campus issue parking fines to students?
A: Yes, all fines are payable to the Office of Business Services. Appeals should be directed to the Vice President for Student Services and Enrollment Management within five working days.

Is campus security available?
A: The Columbia campus has security personnel on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Q:
How can I find out information on the college's crime rate?
A: For information, view the Crime Statistics Report. You may also request a printed copy from the Office of Student Services.

Are firearms allowed on campus?
A: No.

What if an instructor or student is harassing me?
A:

Columbia State Community College will not condone sexual, racial or other forms of harassment of students, employees of the college or applicants for employment. Sexual harassment and racial harassment have been held to constitute a form of discrimination prohibited by Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, and Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972.

In situations that require immediate action, because of the safety or other concerns, the institution can take any disciplinary action that is appropriate, pending the initiation of the investigation by the affirmative action officer. Individuals who feel they have been harassed are encouraged to contact the Director of Human Resources (college affirmative action officer) at 931-540-2521 (Pryor 113).
