(Clifton, Tenn. – May 2, 2011) - - - On Monday, April 18 local golfers participated in Columbia State’s Sixth Annual Clifton Campus Scholarship Golf Classic at the Ross Creek Landing Golf Course. The annual event raised approximately $7,500 to support the Columbia State Clifton Campus Scholarship Fund, providing educational opportunities to deserving students.
Nearly 100 Golfers competed for cash and prizes valued at more than $5,000. Golfers also competed in a Pink Lady contest and a putting contest. The Pink Lady contest was a game within the scramble with teams competing for a cash prize. Clifton Land Company was the winner of the Pink Lady Contest, and Darwin Rich was the putting contest winner.
“This year’s scholarship golf tournament was a huge success by every measure,” said Stephen Milligan, director of Columbia State’s Clifton Campus. “The generosity of our sponsors and golfers has helped the Clifton scholarship golf tournament continuously meet and exceed fundraising expectations. In six years, the golf tournament has raised more than $50,000, which has provided tremendous support to our students. We are grateful for every contribution.”
The winner of the champion flight was the Timco team. Its members (pictured from left to right) were Murray Nicholson, Steve Miller, Pete Read and Jim Robinson.
