“I Musici de Montréal,” a chamber orchestra consisting of 15 musicians founded by cellist and dynamic Maestro conductor Yuli Turovsky, will take Columbia State’s Cherry Theater stage for the first time on Thursday, March 18 at 7 p.m.  The performance is the fifth show in Columbia State’s 2009-2010 First Farmers and Merchants Bank Performance Series.

“We would like to invite the community to enjoy an evening of beautiful music by I Musici de Montréal” said Monteia Moore, director of community and evening services at Columbia State.

The ensemble performs a vast repertoire ranging from Baroque to the Contemporary in concert, and has released more than 40 CD’s that have been distributed in more than 50 countries. The public enthusiasm and critical acclaim that underlines the precision, cohesion and virtuosity of performance, as well as the distinctive sound of the orchestra, confirms the orchestra’s importance on the world’s musical stage.

The orchestra has performed in some of the greatest halls in the world including New York’s Lincoln Theater, the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, Germany, the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussel, Kioi Hall in Tokyo, Japan and the Conservatoire de Musique in Luxemburg, among others.
