EMT Refresher Course and EMT Extended Skills Course Available at Columbia Campus
Columbia State’s Center for Economic and Workforce Development is offering emergency medical services training to help professionals maintain current skills, develop new skills, and meet continuing education requirements.
The following non-credit EMS classes are being offered during the spring semester:
The EMT Refresher is a twenty-four hour course that provides participants with a review and update on the care and treatment of medical trauma emergencies. Participants completing this course will meet the refresher requirements for re-certification with the National Registry. Completion also provides EMTs who are not currently National Registered with the opportunity to meet the requirements to take the EMT National Registry written and practical examinations. Participants completing the course will receive 2.4 continuing education units. The class will be held Monday, March 8, Tuesday, March 9 and Wednesday, March 10. The cost of the class is $120. Students must register for this class by February 6.
The Center for Economic and Workforce Development will also be offering an EMT Extended Skills course. EMT Extended Skills is a forty-hour course for licensed EMTs wanting to expand skills in IV fundamentals and D50 administration. Upon successful completion of the course participants will receive 4.0 continuing education units and be eligible to sit for the state IV examination. The class fee is $290. The required text, “AAOS, Intravenous Therapy,” is not included in the fee. The class will be held Monday, May 17 through Friday, May 21. Students must register for this class before April 6.
