Columbia State’s Baseball program is proud to host one of the best fall instructional leagues in the south. All high school players who are in grades 9-12 are welcome to join. Beginning the weekend of Saturday, September 26 and running through Saturday November 7, participants will receive instruction on how to develop all the skills needed to become a better baseball player. This is an instructional camp that will help players of all skill levels, while focusing on player instruction and development.
“Our staff will be there each and every game to insure that participants are receiving the very best collegiate level instruction,” said new Columbia State Head Baseball Coach Mike Corn, who joined the Chargers Athletics Department after serving as Director of Baseball Operations at the University of Tennessee. “Our goal is give area players the opportunity to improve their knowledge of the game during a time of the year when baseball opportunities are limited.”
The Columbia State Baseball Fall Instructional League is open to all players, grades 9-12. Pro Style workouts will be conducted on Saturday September 27 in order to showcase player skill level and developmental needs along with helping in the organization of teams. The league will consist of at least four teams (no more than six teams will be allowed). Each team will have 12-15 players, and will play 11 games – weather permitting. Pitchers will be held to strict pitch count and each team will receive one hour of fundamental instruction prior to each game.
The Columbia State Baseball Fall Instructional League will cost $150.00 for folks signing up prior to September 25, and $175.00 for participants who sign up on September 27.
Parents are more than welcome to attend the sessions and games, admission is free to all and the concession stand will be available along with Columbia State apparel for purchase (hats, t-shirts, shorts).
