Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder

Ricky Skaggs has often said that he is “just trying to make a living” playing the music he loves. The diverse and masterful tones made by the gifted Skaggs come from a life dedicated to playing music that is both fed by the soul and felt by the heart. He counts the current configuration of Kentucky Thunder among the best group of musicians he has ever worked with.  “This group of guys meets my approval every night”. This 14-time Grammy Award winner continues to do his part to lead the recent roots revival in music.

Evening in the Round
Starring Linda Davis, Lang Scott, and Bill Whyte

The intimate night of acoustic music, starring Grammy award winner Linda Davis and hit songwriters Lang Scott and Bill Whyte, will be injected with hits, humor and a whole lot of down home appeal.  Each artist takes a turn at the microphone, playing songs and sharing the stories behind these hits. The audience can expect to hear some familiar tunes recorded by some of today’s hottest artists, as well as Whyte’s own brand of sometimes twisted but always funny songs.

Blue Sky Riders
Kenny Loggins, Georgia Middleman, Gary Burr

When Kenny Loggins, one of the premiere voices in modern popular music, joined forces with Gary Burr, one of Nashville’s most accomplished writers, they felt they sounded like brothers when they sang together.  Loggins decided on the spot to form a band but wanted to add a third, female voice.  Burr, who has been named Songwriter of the Year by ASCAP, Billboard and NSAI, suggested singer/songwriter Georgia Middleman, who has penned songs for Keith Urban, Faith Hill and Martina McBride among others.  She quickly accepted their invitation and Blue Sky Riders was born.

Mac McAnally

If Mac McAnally never sang or played another note of music, his place in music history is more than assured.  McAnally has been inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, the Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame, and the Country Music Association named him Musician of the Year.  Over the course of his career he’s built an enviable registry of credits that includes Roy Orbison, Amy Grant, Jimmy Buffett, Travis Tritt, Linda Ronstadt, Dolly Parton and many more. Even in the midst of creating a prodigious body of behind-the-scenes work, McAnally continued to make his own music taking his career and carrying it to places it has never been.

Annie Moses Band

The Annie Moses Band is an ensemble unlike any in America today. A blend of fiddle, jazz, and classical influences fused with soaring, folk inspired vocals create a sound that is both refreshing and familiar. The Annie Moses Band is a family bringing classicism to the common man. The music is a tapestry of Americana favorites and original tunes. This family is a metaphor for what matters in art and life. They are worth hearing. And once heard, they will not be forgotten.

Columbia State Spring Musical

Announced in the spring, the Columbia State Commercial Entertainment program’s spring musical is the capstone performance of this year’s Performance Series.  Past shows include Once Upon a Mattress, A Princess in a Pea, Shrek The Musical, 9 to 5, Cats, and Grease.  Columbia State’s Commercial Entertainment program is one of only two programs in the country to specifically train talented students to be dancers, singers and songwriters.
