Soul Returns To Columbia State

Performance Free and Open to the Public Wednesday, Feb. 27

(COLUMBIA, Tenn. – Feb. 14, 2013) - - - Representing the music of four continents, Singers of United Lands returns to Columbia State Community College. Four singers unite in a shared experience of traditional, folk and contemporary music.

On Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 12:30 p.m., SOUL will perform in the Jones Student Center, delivering an afternoon of international vocal music, world history and linguistics from Guatemala, Ireland, Philippines and Siberia (Russia).

“I’m excited for the return of SOUL,” said Ana Basoa, associate professor of Spanish and director of International Education at Columbia State. “The performances are always fun and entertaining, and they bring fantastic energy to the audience.”

Sponsored by Columbia State’s Lyceum Committee, in conjunction with Nashville’s Global Education Center, SOUL musicians will blend their styles and voices, introducing music from their respective continents. Performers are Maria from Guatemala, John from Ireland, My-Leen from the Philippines and Evgeny from Siberia.

SOUL is on a six-month tour throughout the U.S., developing international and cultural relationships through vocal music from around the world, while providing workshops, presentations, performances and lessons for audiences of all ages.

This performance is free and open to the public on the Columbia campus.
