Performance Free and Open to Public Dec. 1

Columbia State Community College’s Department of Music
presents its student music program, featuring the instrumental performance ensemble and choir. The performance takes place Thursday, Dec. 1 at 1 p.m. in the Ledbetter Auditorium located in the Frank G. Clement Building on the Columbia campus. The event is free and open to the public.
The performance ensemble, directed by Mark Lee, PhD., associate professor of music at Columbia State, will open the program with selections by J.S. Bach, Corelli and Schein. Emily Gaskill, assistant professor of music, will direct the choir with selections from composers such as Handel, Leontovich and Joseph Martin. Gaskill will be accompanied by Marsha Scheusner, an adjunct professor at Columbia State.
The program includes a variety of musical selections from different genres and musical eras. More familiar concert titles include Carol of the Bells, Simple Gifts and Sussex Carol.
