The Performance Studies Program presented "To Kill A Mockingbird" on March 29-30. The students had prepared for the performance since January, and the play was acted out the week after their class officially ended. The event was part of the community Big Read program. _____________________________________________________________________________

The Lady Chargers defeated Volunteer State in a conference double-header April 10. The next Lady Chargers softball home game is Fri., April 13, at 4 p.m. against Roane State. The next Chargers baseball home game is Fri., April 13, at 6 p.m. against Walters State.

Fall Registration Notice: Current student priority/early registration for fall 2007 is from April 9-22 in new system called Self-Service. Open registration begins April 23.
Summer Registration Notice: Open summer registration began on April 9. The class schedule can be viewed in both Web for Students and in the online schedule system. Summer registration does not use Self-Service.

An official unveiling and ribbon cutting of the renovated track and tennis courts will be held Mon., April 23 at 2:30 p.m. Work on the facilities was completed in October 2006. The track is used by the community and the Central High School track team.

REMINDERS & ANNOUNCEMENTS:

The Marketing and Public Relations Department recently received two Paragon Gold Awards from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations. The competition recognizes outstanding achievement in communication at community colleges.

The Nashville Ballet will perform "Aesop's Fables", Thurs., April 12, at 6:30 p.m. in the Cherry Theatre.

The next Chargers baseball home game is Fri., April 13, at 6 p.m. against Walters State. The next Lady Chargers softball home game is Fri., April 13, at 4 p.m. against Roane State.

There will be an Intramural Volleyball Tournament on April 17 at 3:30 p.m., in the Webster Gym.

The Tennessee Board of Regents recently honored Columbia State Community College’s first president, Dr. Harold S. Pryor, with the Regents’ Award for Excellence in Philanthropy in recognition of his contributions and commitment to higher education in Tennessee.

Columbia State respiratory care students placed second in the Sputum Bowl student competition at the annual Respiratory Care State Convention in Gatlinburg on March 29. Two Columbia State students, Tamika Biffle and Heather Parsons, were awarded $500 scholarships.

The Mega Musical Version of Nunsense, will be on Fri., April 20, 7:30 p.m., and Sat., April 21, 7 p.m., at the Franklin Campus. For Friday performance tickets are $5, Saturday performance/dessert tickets are $10. Tickets available at the door.

The Commercial Entertainment Program will wrap up the 2006-07 Performance Series with their musical performance of Nunsense on Sat., April 28 at 7 p.m. in the Cherry Theater. Tickets are $9 ($5 for students). To purchase tickets, please call Sandy Thurston (2879).
