We now have two federated searches for our
article databases.
The "AGent" search lets you search up to
10 of our databases with one search. Most, but not all, of our
databases are included in this search. Click
here
to search AGent. On the login screen, just click on the
"Begin" button and start searching.
The "Gale Power Search" lets you search
more than one of the Gale/Thompson databases with one search. The
Gale/Thompson databases include our Tennessee Electronic Library
databases, such as General OneFile, Health and
Wellness Resource Center, the Computer Database, Biography Resource Center,
and Literature Resource Center. Click
here
to use the Gale Power Search.
What is "federated searching"?
Usually, when you search an article database,
you only have access to the publications in that one database. Federated
searching lets you choose up to 10 databases to be searched at once. This is
very basic searching, since it has to work in multiple databases. For advanced
searching, you will need to search the databases one at a time, by going to
the
Databases A-Z page, or the
Databases by Subject
page.
The AGent federated searching at Columbia state
is provided through the Tennessee Board of Regents. It is a work in progress.
More databases will be added as they become available.
