Access to computer accounts

In this workshop, we will explain the differences in usernames and passwords used at Columbia State.  We will also show you how to change your passwords.

First we will discuss the different types of passwords used at Columbia State.  All faculty, staff and students are given a PVT account while employed or attending classes at Columbia State.  Lookup PVT Username (Must know SSN).

The second set of passwords used at Columbia State involve VAX/Alpha operations.   Your VAX/Alpha username may not be the same as your username on PVT.  When you log onto the VAX and change your password, your password is also changed on the Alpha.

The third type of password should only affect faculty and/or staff.   This would be the password on your office PC.  This password is created by the user.  Information Technology is not responsible for keeping up with the password on your office PC.  Many office PCs (and hopefully all of them in the not too distant future) log into the PVT domain.

Now that we have briefly discussed passwords, we will discuss each in depth.
