What is PVT?

 

PVT is the name of our “private” domain used at Columbia State. A domain is a way of uniquely identifying a computer or group of computers on the Internet. PVT is CoSCC’s domain – the public in general can not access our PVT domain resources. The only public access is that anyone on the Internet that knows your Columbia State email address can send you email.

Think of PVT as Columbia State’s computer “phone book” linking you with your name in the computer “phone book”; i.e. to your secure username and password. This gives you access to Columbia State’s various computer and network resources including email. Logging into the PVT domain provides secure access and better control of your computer and information resources.

Student ID and Photo ID required for Technology Account Changes

As part of the Information Technology Department's effort to protect your security, we ask that a photo ID be provided when requesting changes to your computer account(s). Columbia State is currently in the process of installing Photo ID systems at all campuses, so that faculty, staff and students can have a Photo ID made. To date, the Columbia and Franklin campuses have fully implemented systems. The Lewisburg and Lawrenceburg campuses are currently being scheduled for installation and equipment is being ordered for the Clifton campus.
