Geography: Programs

Physical Geography I - Geog 1010
This course is a survey of the spatial significance of physical elements in the environment.  It is also a study of the global earth in space, tools of discipline, the atmosphere, and the biosphere.  Special emphasis is placed on understanding weather, the geographical distribution of climate, and the earth's crust. 

Physical Geography II - Geog 1020
Physical Geography II is designed to give students a better understanding of the problems of population growth, hunger, resource use and environmental deterioration.  Special consideration will be given to the under-developed part of the world. It is also a study of the human impact on the natural environment.  Geography's contribution to liberal arts education is kept in the foreground.

World Regional Geography I - Geog 1210
A course for general education that deals with countries and regions with respect to: world importance, location, population problems, type of economy, external connections and relationships, problems and potential.  The two regions covered in World Regional Geography I are Latin America and Africa.  World Regional Geography I emphasizes the underdeveloped world.

World Regional Geography II - Geog 1220
A course for general education which deals with countries and regions with respect to: world importance, location, population problems, type of economy, external connections and relationships, problems and potential.  the three regions covered in World Regional Geography II are Black Africa, the Soviet Union, and Asia.
