Summary of programs: Columbia State’s Center for Economic and Workforce Development has partnered with Gatlin Education to provide career-focused online courses that are designed to give you the latest in learning, and to provide the skills necessary to acquire professional caliber positions in many in-demand occupations. These are in-depth, career training courses in association with Gatlin Education Services, the world's largest provider of online, instructor-supported training to colleges and universities. The self-paced courses are available anytime, anywhere. All you need is a web-enabled computer and a desire to learn skills that will prepare you for a new career or update current skill sets. Even though you don't have to attend class, you won't be on your own. A team of available online professionals, anytime scheduling, and educational textbooks combine to give you a relevant, interactive learning experience. Programs typically take 3 - 6 months to complete.

Online Medical Coding

Offered by: Oak Horizons
Summary of the program: Columbia State’s Center for Economic and Community Development has partnered with Oak Horizons. to deliver an online medical coding career program. Medical coders are professionals skilled in classifying medical data from patients’ records. The coding practitioners review patients’ records and assign numeric codes for each diagnosis and procedure. Coders find employment in hospitals, physician offices, same day surgical centers, multi-specialty clinics and insurance companies. Our goal is to produce a skilled, job-ready medical coder. This program consists of six consecutive blocks. Each block contains four to five courses and will take approximately six weeks to complete. The student will complete 950 hours of study during the program. The registration fee is $1,999 (fee does not include books, equipment and technical access). Summary of the program: Regents Online Continuing Education (ROCE) offers online non-credit courses designed to upgrade skills, improve organizations, industries, economic performance and provide personal enrichment courses for persons who wish to obtain knowledge and learn new skills. ROCE program costs vary by course; fees are non-refundable once program starts. (Not to be confused with RODP, the Regents Online Degree Program, which offers online credit courses towards degrees. Yes, ROCE is on the RODP site, but these are separate programs, both offered by TBR.)
