Instructor-Led Paralegal Program with the Center for Legal Studies

Columbia State’s Center for Economic and Community Development has partnered with the Center for Legal Studies, based in Golden, Colorado, to bring this 84-hour course to south central Tennessee. Students will be trained to interview witnesses, investigate complex fact patterns, research the law, prepare legal documents, and assist in preparing cases for courtroom litigation. The instruction is practice-oriented and relates to those areas of law in which paralegals are in most demand. Topics include legal terminology, introduction to the evidentiary predicate, identifying relevant authority, legal research, and legal writing and appellate procedure. Students must register by calling the Center for Economic and Community Development at (931) 540-2660. Students may call the Center for Legal Studies (1-800-522-7737) to purchase texts.
