General Transfer Major with Emphasis in English (A.A., A.S.)

The general transfer major at Columbia State allows students to take courses required in the first two years of most majors at senior institutions.  The English department offers courses for all students in composition, literature, and creative writing.  These courses are aimed at improving writing and critical thinking skills as well as helping students realize the importance of effective communication in their daily lives. 

Students may obtain the Associate of Arts degree with an emphasis in English by substituting six (6) hours of a single foreign language for six (6) hours of unspecified electives.  The A.A. or A.S. degree with an emphasis in English is intended to prepare a student for transfer into a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science program in English.
