Quality and Efficiency
Columbia State offers its Quality Administration program in cooperation with Quality Services International, a widely respected training and consulting firm. Courses include Statistical Process Control (basic and advanced), Process Problem Solving, Measurement System Analysis, Production Part Approval Process, Advanced Blueprint Reading, and Certified Quality Engineer Preparation. The most popular quality courses are delivered over two days (SPC, PPS, DOE) or one day (MSA).
Trainer - Phil Ross is the president and lead trainer for Quality Services International. He is a certified quality engineer, graduate of the General Motors Institute, and holder of three patents. Ross has taught statistical and quality courses in the United States, Great Britain, Holland, Japan, Trinidad and Singapore.
Principles of Lean Manufacturing
Lean Manufacturing is eliminating any activity that does not help transform a product into its finished form. Through a learned understanding of how to discover waste, both obvious and hidden, you identify your non-value added opportunities and apply the ‘tools of lean.’ You will study success stories and lessons learned from other manufacturers in the Automotive, Appliance, and Aerospace industries. Using Lean Manufacturing techniques, you can expect improvements in Productivity, Lead time, Inventory levels, and Floor space. This one-day course can be presented at Columbia State or onsite. Topics include: Waste identification and elimination, Product flow, Floor space utilization, Small lot production, Kiazen, Error proofing / Poka-Yoke, 5S, Cycle time reduction, FIFO, Pull systems, TOC, Visual Controls, SMED, Value Stream Mapping, TPS, Workplace organization, Standardized work, and Visual controls. The course fee is $199.

Lean Manufacturing Trainer - Bruce Keedy is president and lead trainer of Manufacturing Trainers Group. Keedy holds degrees from Auburn and Middle Tennessee State Universities, and is an ASQ Certified Quality Engineer. He has been a manufacturing professional for 26 years and has facilitated more than 300 workshops for major corporations throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Keedy’s teaching style incorporates copious examples as he combines ‘lean-thinking’ with ‘hands-on’ experience.
