DEVELOPMENTAL STUDIES - Dropping Courses

  1. The student must obtain the Instructor's or the Discipline Lead Faculty's (math, reading, writing, learning strategies) signature and the Developmental Studies Program (DSP) Director's or a DSP Counselor's signature on both the Change of Registration Form and the Developmental Studies Program Drop/Withdrawal Form.
  2. The student is not officially dropped from a DSP course until approvals have been obtained and both the Change of Registration Form and the DSP Drop/Withdrawal Form have been processed by the appropriate offices.
  3. Students are encouraged to continue to attend classes.  Students who fail to get official approval to drop a DSP course and who are not attending classes will receive an "F" for the course.
  4. According to the Tennessee Board of Regents A-100 guidelines, which relate to Developmental Studies Program provisions, "Students needing DSP courses must enroll in and satisfactorily complete these courses during their initial term of enrollment.  Persistence in the program is essential."  Therefore, completion of DSP courses precedes other courses.
  5. Students who drop DSP courses MUST re-enroll in any dropped DSP course during their next term of enrollment.
