Course Description

This sociology course examines quality of life issues and contributing factors to social problems with a focus on deviance and inequality. Topics of study include: sexual deviance, crime and violence, substance abuse, poverty, and inequality of gender, race, and ethnicity. Problems in government and the economy, along with global social problems, such as war, terrorism, and environmental issues will also be covered.

**Prerequisite: Students are strongly encouraged to take SOC 201 (Introduction to Sociology) prior to taking SOC 203 (Social Problems)
