The faculty in the Criminal Justice Technology department is composed of current or retired practitioners. In other words, those individuals who are providing instruction have actually worked in the field of criminal justice. Student opinion and empirical data suggest that students prefer those instructors who have actually dedicated themselves to the careers they seek. At Columbia State, judges, lawyers, law enforcement officers, probation officers, corrections officers, and many others are involved in the education process.
Dr. Robert E. Grubb, Jr., Program Director. A retired police officer from the Roanoke City Police Department, he earned his degrees in the nontraditional sense. His Associate’s, Bachelor’s, and Master’s degrees were earned while he was employed as a law enforcement officer. Dr. Grubb earned his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) at the University of Southern Mississippi, and his dissertation research was centered upon developing a learning disabilities screen for testing inmates.
