Commercial Entertainment Program: Certificates

What We Offer



Commercial Entertainment offers a one-year technical certificate in 'Commercial Entertainment' with options for contemporary performers (singers, actors and dancers) as well as musicians and songwriters.  Students receive a great deal of personal attention from our instructors, all of whom have extensive professional performance backgrounds in the industry. When a student chooses Columbia State’s Commercial Entertainment department, they are making a choice to realize their dreams of becoming a working professional in the exciting performing arts industry.

Songwriting Option

This option is designed to provide a student with the skills they will need to set–up a home Studio, to compose, arrange, perform and print Music using the computer and to create an Internet site or CD to market their productions.

  • CEN 136 - Commercial Songwriting II Credits: (3).
  • MUS 2360 - Digital Music Production Credits: (3).

Total Songwriting Option: 9

Performance Option

This option is designed for students who want to enter the entertainment field as a performer (singer/dancer) and provides a balanced approach to the skills needed to seek employment in this field.

Dance Elective Credits: (2) From Jazz, Tap, or Ballet technique:
