  Business Information Technology: Computer Systems

Computer Systems
The mission of the Computer Information Systems Department is to provide a program to prepare students to solve technology-based business problems through the use of computer information systems, computer tools and computer techniques, and to prepare students in the support of computer information systems. Students who complete the program will receive an Associate of Applied Science degree (A. A. S.).

Computer Systems Careers
The Computer Systems program prepares the student to assume information systems/technology responsibilities in any organization. Degree seeking students will be exposed to important aspects of computing in a business setting including networking, programming, databases, as well as current operating systems and popular business applications.  Our graduates are prepared to work in a supporting capacity performing duties including programming, training, maintaining documentation, assisting in systems analysis and design, network support, and database management.  Titles that might be applied to our graduates in the workplace would include entry-level programmer, computer operator, LAN manager, training and support specialist, or computer software technician.

What you will learn
Courses cover the fundamentals of programming and networking that relate to all areas of computer information systems as well as the specialized areas of computer hardware, computer software, program design, structured programming and local area network design and administration. General business concepts and applications are also taught in several classes.
