Major in General Transfer with Emphasis in Art (A.A., A.S)
The art curriculum provides basic courses which meet the requirements leading either to the Associate of Arts degree or the Associate of Science degree in Art. The Associate of Arts degree with an emphasis in art is designed for those students who plan to transfer into a B.A. program in Studio Art, Graphic Design, or Interior Design. Students may obtain the Associate of Arts degree with an emphasis in art by completing six (6) hours of a single foreign language.
The Associate of Science degree with an emphasis in art is intended to prepare a student to transfer into a four-year program in art. Since lower division requirements in art at senior institutions vary widely, it is strongly recommended that students intending to complete a four-year program in art consult the catalog of the institution to which they intend to transfer. One of the primary functions of the art department is to offer the basic general education art course, Introduction to Visual Arts, which is a requirement in a number of the transfer programs. The art department reserves the right to retain the student's work in its permanent collection for exhibitions.
