WHAT IS myCHARGERNET (myCN)?

The myChargerNet service is a self-service gateway to the computer system used by Columbia State Community College.

What does that mean?

It means that you have the access and ability to view the same information that the Office of Financial Aid looks at when you call or e-mail us your questions.

And all that information is at your fingertips! 24 hours a day. 7 days a week. 365 days a year.

CHECKING YOUR FINANCIAL AID ON myCHARGERNET (myCN):

Accessing your financial aid information on myCN is quick and easy. But it can be confusing when you are just learning how to use the system.

Below are some step-by-step instructions on how to use some common financial aid and financial related tools on myCN.
 

ACCESSING SELF-SERVICE BEFORE YOU ARE ADMITTED AS A STUDENT:

In order to use the full myCN system you must first be admitted as a student to Columbia State Community College.

If you have applied for admission, but have not yet been admitted as a student, you may still check on the status of your financial aid and application for admission through self-service.

Once you login to self-service, click on 'Financial Aid' for a list of options.

To see what financial aid has been awarded to you: click 'Financial Aid Status', then choose then correct award year from the drop down menu.

To see the status of submitted documents or see what new documents are required of you: click 'Eligibility', then click 'Student Requirements', then choose the correct award year from the drop down menu.

To see your bill for a semester: click 'Award', then click 'Account Summary by Term'.
 

CLICK HERE to acces self-service if you are not yet admitted to Columbia State Community College.
 

Note: If you do not know your Columbia State Identification Number, you may log-in to self-service with your 9 digit social security number.

Note: Your PIN number is your 6 digit date of birth (Example: January 1st, 1995 would be 010195). Once you log-in successfully you can change your PIN by clicking the 'Personal Information' tab, then 'Change Your PIN'.

ACCESSING myCHARGERNET (myCN) AFTER YOU ARE ADMITTED AS A STUDENT:

Once you are admitted as a student to Columbia State Community College you may access the full capacity of myCN.

You will receive a letter from the Office of Admissions containing both your Columbia State Student Identification Number
(referred to as your 'A' number because it always starts with the letter A) and a temporary Password.

Note: Once you successfully login to myCN you are strongly encouraged to change your password.

LOGIN TO myCN:

Step 1: Go to www.columbiastate.edu

Step 2: At the top of the homepage, click the icon of the Chargers mascot (horse's head) that says 'Login to myCN'

Step 3: Enter your User Name (A number) and Password in the fields under 'Secure myCN Login'

Step 4: If your login is successful you will find yourself on the myCN page on the 'Home' tab

VIEW YOUR myCN E-MAIL INBOX:

Step 1: Click on the envelope icon (says E-mail underneath) in the upper, right-hand side of the 'Home' page.

Step 2: Microsoft Outlook Web Access should open in a new web browser window

Note: The Office of Financial Aid uses student e-mail to contact students. Please check your inbox on a daily basis
to make sure you don't miss out on important information or requests.

VIEW THE STATUS OF YOUR FINANCIAL AID PAPERWORK:

Step 1: Login to myCN

Step 2: Click the 'Student' Tab

Step 3: Under 'Self-Service' (green box on the left side of the screen), click 'Financial Aid Eligibility'

Step 4: Click 'Student Requirements'

Step 5: Select the correct award year from the drop-down menu

Step 6: Click 'Submit'

Step 7: To view any special instructions or explanation of the requirement, click on the box to the right of the screen under 'Source Term Instructions'

Step 8: If a requirement is un-fulfilled, click on the name of the requirement. You will be linked to the appropriate webpage to complete the requirement

Step 9: To return to the main menu, click 'CHARGERNET' in the upper, right-hand corner of the screen

VIEW YOUR FINANCIAL AID AWARD(S):

Step 1: Login to myCN

Step 2: Click the 'Student' Tab

Step 3: Under 'Self Service' (green box on the left side of the screen), click "Financial Aid Awards'

Step 4: Click 'Award For Aid Year'

Step 5: Click the 'Award Overview' Tab

Step 6: To return to the main menu, click 'CHARGERNET' in the upper, right-hand corner of the screen

Note: Aid is based off of full-time enrollment. Should you enroll and attend less-than-full-time Federal and State grants will be reduced down, or pro-rated, based on your enrollment status.

VIEW YOUR BILL AND PENDING FINANCIAL AID:

Step 1: Login to myCN

Step 2: Click the 'Student' Tab

Step 3: Under 'Self Service' (green box on the left side of the screen), click 'Account Summary'

Step 4: Click on 'Continue' and a Columbia State window opens in a new web browser

Step 5: In the middle of the new page, under "Quick View" and 'Current Account Status', click 'Recent Account Activity'

Step 6: Under 'Student Account Activity Since Last Statement', choose 'Current Activity' in the 'View Transactions by Term' field

Step 7: Click on 'Go'

Step 8: Pending financial aid is found under 'Estimated Financial Aid'. If your pending aid is more than what you owe Columbia State Community College for a term you are not required to enroll in a payment plan.

Step 9: Click 'Logout' in the upper, right-hand corner of the page, close the browser window and return to the myCN page.

Step 10: To return to the main menu, click 'CHARGERNET' in the upper, right-hand corner of the screen

SET UP AN ACH REFUND (DIRECT DEPOSIT) ACCOUNT:

Note:  The Office of Financial Aid is not responsible for billing or issuing refund checks to students.  This is solely the function of the Office of Business Services.  If you have billing questions or further questions regarding direct deposit, please contact the Office of Business Services.

Step 1:  Login to myCN

Step 2:  Click the 'Student' Tab

Step 3:  Click on 'More Self-Service'

Step 4:  Click on 'Student'

Step 5:  Click on 'Student Account'

Step 6:  Click on 'View Bill / Make a Payment / Set Up a Refund Profile'

Step 7:  Click on 'Continue'

Step 8:  Under 'Quick View', click on 'Create a Refund Profile'

Step 9:  Click on 'Payment Profile'

Step 10:  In the "Select Payment Type" field, select 'Electronic Check (checking/savings)' from the drop-down menu

Note:  You must choose this option for ACH refunds.

Step 11:  Enter your Bank Account Information

Note:  You will be asked to confirm your bank account number by re-entering the account number in reverse order.

Step 12:  Enter your Accountholder Billing Information; please check the box next to 'Refund Option' to elect to have refunds deposited into your account

Note:  It is in this step that you elect to receive financial aid refunds in an ACH refund instead of a paper check issued by the Office of Business Services.

Step 13:  Click on 'Save'

VIEW YOUR TENNESSEE EDUCATION LOTTERY SCHOLARSHIP (TELS) ELIGIBILITY:

Step 1: Login to myCN

Step 2: Click on the 'Student' Tab

Step 3: Under 'Self Service' (green box on the left side of the screen), click 'More Self-Services'

Step 4: Click 'Student'

Step 5: Click 'Student Records'

Step 6: Click 'View TELS Eligibility'

Step 7: To return to the main menu, click 'CHARGERNET' in the upper, right-hand corner of the screen

CONFIRM AND PAY:

Step 1:  Login to myCN

Step 2:  Click on the 'Student' Tab

Step 3:  Under 'Self-Service' (green box on The left side of the screen), click 'Confirm and Pay'

Step 4:  Select the term for which you are confirming attendance (Spring 2012, Summer 2012, etc.)

Step 5:  Review your tution and fees and pending financial aid for the selected term.  If your authorized and/or memoed financial aid is more than your total fees you may confirm your attendance without having to pay your tuition and fees.

Step 6:  If you plan to attend for the selected term, click 'Yes, I Will Attend During (selected term)'

Step 7:  Review your Registration Confirmation.

Step 8: To return to the main menu, click 'CHARGERNET' in the upper, right-hand corner of the screen
