Admission Requirements

To apply to the Veterinary Technology Program, complete the following steps, in the order listed:

1.    Complete and submit an application for admission to the college.
2.    Forward an official high school (or GED) transcript and any college transcripts to the college. Have them mailed directly to:

Columbia State Community College
Office of Records
1665 Hampshire Pike
Columbia, TN 38401

3.    If under the age of 21, also forward ACT test scores to Columbia State. If English, math or composite scores are below 19, a placement test is required. If you are over the age of 21 (the ACT score will be > 3 years old), and you have never taken college level courses or a placement test before, then a placement test will be required. The placement test will determine if you need to take additional learning support classes before beginning the veterinary technology program.

4.    Complete the Veterinary Technology Program Packet.

5.    Submit a letter of reference.

6.    Review the Veterinary Technology Program Student Policy Manual available on the VT website or at the Learning Resource Center at the main campus. Students must sign and submit the form on the last page of the manual.

7.    Please complete the items listed above and submit an application packet to the program director, Dr. Nicole Richards. The director can be reached at 931.540.2743 or by email at srichards@ColumbiaState.edu. Applications should be mailed to the following address:

Columbia State Community College
1665 Hampshire Pike
Health Sciences Building, Office 105A
Columbia, TN 38401

Review of applications will begin February 15th annually. Eligible candidates who have complete college and program applications will be invited to interview in April. Applications will also be accepted after the February 15th deadline. Students interested in the program are encouraged to apply even after the deadline. Applicants who submit materials after February 15th will be considered on space available basis. All learning support requirements must be completed prior to beginning Veterinary Technology classes. Class size is limited.

The program enrollment is limited and admission is not guaranteed. New classes begin only in the fall semester.
