Commercial Entertainment students must exhibit proficiency in at least one of four areas: singing, songwriting, dancing or acting.
Upon receipt of the CEN Request for Admission form
, the program director will contact the student to set an appointment for an audition.
Audition appointments will not be scheduled until a completed CEN Request for Admission form
Due to limited enrollment, early applicants will receive first audition appointment options.
Appointments for in-person auditions must be scheduled before the official registration day for the beginning of the semester. This audition may be video-recorded by the program director to be used to confer with faculty in the Commercial Entertainment program.
An applicant may elect to submit a video-recorded audition. The deadline for video-recorded auditions is August 1 for fall semester and December 1 for spring semester. Videos may be sent to the program director
in multiple media formats, including but not limited to CD/DVD, flash drive and YouTube videos.
The audition should showcase the applicant’s skill in at least one of the following areas: singing, songwriting, dancing or acting. The following table shows the requirements of the audition for each skill area.
Live audition or submission of two or more compositions in mp3 or CD format by contacting Cathy Hudnall
for delivery options. A vocal audition is not required for the songwriters.
Timeframe: 1-2 minutes
Performance: Pop, country, jazz or musical theater selection. Musical accompaniment on CD required Dance
Timeframe: 1-1.5 minutes
Performance: Choreographed routine exhibiting proficiency in jazz, tap or ballet. Dance attire required for the dance audition. Musical accompaniment on CD required.
Timeframe: 1 minute each
Performance: Two contrasting monologues. Do not bring props to the audition.
