Myths about Online Learning

The dominant perception of online learning is that it is a breeze and that anyone can easily pass an Internet course. Well, nothing worth doing is ever easy! Fortunately, as online education becomes more of a norm in higher education, this perception is fading. A quality, well-developed online course will be very challenging and rigorous. Learners wishing to be successful in their online course must be prepared to work hard to earn a passing grade. There are 10 myths about online learning that all learners must understand and actively work against. HIST 2010 C90 (Internet-only) - Survey of American History I
Survey of American History I covers European arrival in the Americas in 1492 to the end of Reconstruction by 1877. This course will be conducted entirely online. All exams, quizzes, debates, and research papers will be conducted online. The course will include intensive assignments, with specific deadlines, requiring the ability to research thoroughly, think critically, and write accurately. Students are urged to log onto Online Campus on the first day of classes and get started as soon as possible. Read everything carefully. PSYC 1030 (Internet-only) - General Psychology:
This course will be conducted entirely online. All assessments (exams, pop-quizzes, and the Syllabus Test) will be conducted online. SOCI 1010 (Internet-only) - Introduction to Sociology:
This course will be conducted entirely online. All major exams, short quizzes, writing assignments, and discussions will be accessed and completed online. Intensive online discussions that require critical and objective thinking, as well as effective writing skills, will also be an integral part of the course. Formal research writing assignments applying the sociological perspective to current event topics will also be required throughout the semester.
