The Political Science Department is pleased that you have visited to our web site. We hope to provide you with interesting information about our department and the interesting, and various divisions of political science.
Most people when they consider political science think only about politics. Political Science encompasses many different areas. At Columbia State we teach four separate areas. These areas include Essentials of American Government. This class is an introduction to how government works in our county. State and Local Government includes government about Tennessee, but also government on the state and local level across the country. This class has state and local officials as guest speakers who discuss how their area of operation connects to state and local government.
Introduction to Political Science is taught as a seminar class. In this class political philosophy is discussed and researched. Comparative Government is the fourth and newest class taught at Columbia State. In this class we study how different governments in different countries cam about and how they perform the functions of government. We hope you will find this interesting and become a member of our department.
